No Excuses… Step Outside Your Comfort Zone and Try Something New!
I did it! I have created a blog and am writing my first blog post! I would consider myself a life-long learner, a trier of new things, open-minded, and I have a willingness for change. While reflecting on all the things I would describe myself as, I have also found myself not engaging in the necessary changes needed to create these same descriptors within the staff and students of the the walls in school building I lead. I have all these ideas swirling about, yet have not implemented them. Why, you might ask? I kept telling myself… LACK OF TIME! I was making excuses. Spending time on things that didn't necessarily need my attention at the time, prioritizing incorrectly and not delegating, in fear that something might not get done, or get done incorrectly. Therefore, I became an educator (and leader) struggling with time management. Not spending time on the things that really made a difference and impacted students. I became a manager, not a leader. After attending several leadership conferences, I was inspired to take what I had learned and apply it to the leader I wanted to become. A leader that inspired and energized other educators to try new things. To step out of their comfort zones. To take risks. To venture out in the digital world. To know that it is ok to fail, yet try and try again until success has been reached. I mean, this is what we want for our students, right? And let's be honest, our students deserve us to be the best educators and leaders we can be. Hence, the birth of this blog. To share ideas, to collaborate, to relate to the struggles facing educators today, to learn, to inspire, to energize. So basically… to try something new and see where it goes! Therefore, I will end with my favorite quote. Something I strive to achieve daily: "I'm better today than I was yesterday and I'll be better tomorrow than I am today".
